This year, thanks to the Finnish mission, we have a new facility for widows in the Morogoro area. It is called Kimbilio which in Swahili language means refuge. It is a building where the women can come for meetings, sharing and receiving support through education. The Kimbilio facility includes 10 acres of land. This land will enable the women to grow crops for home use and sale.
Linda and I were invited by Bishop Jacob Mameo to teach the Foundations for Farming (FfF) method to these women. This will allow improved yields of their most valuable crops which are corn and sunflowers.

Here the women are preparing the land. All work is done using hoes.
The women enjoy being together and laugh a lot during their work. They are willing cooperators in this method which is new to them. We emphasize early preparation and high standards in completing each activity of preparing the land, planting, weeding, fertilizing, mulching and harvesting.

Since we start work before sunrise, we always break for tea and snacks and a devotion.
But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. Luke 8:15
Our continued work in the Morogoro Diocese will include being available to Bishop Mameo and his direction, promoting Foundations for Farming, giving direction to the cooperative effort of rebuilding a rural church, which will be built together with a team from Tulsa, OK coming in Sept, and giving support to rural pastors and evangelists in their work.
Together in Christ, Robert and Linda
